CrossFit Training

In general, CrossFit seeks to train athletes to achieve functional fitness (fitness that is useful and helps you to get things done), by incorporating exercises that train the 10 distinct aspects of fitness: Strength, Speed, Agility, Accuracy, Power, Balance, Flexibility, Endurance, Stamina, and Coordination. In summary: Strength, Quality of Movement, and Conditioning.

CrossFit is a functional strengthening and conditioning program that uses constantly varied functional movements performed at high levels of intensity.  By “functional,” we mean getting fit and strong in the movements that everyday life demands, moving and working in the ways that the human body is meant to perform.

We train using compound, multi-joint movements and lifts that strengthen all of your body’s major, as well as accessory, muscles. The workouts are varied in their method and purpose. We work at getting better across all of the different elements of fitness: Cardio/Respiratory Endurance, Stamina, Strength, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Coordination, Agility, Balance, and Accuracy.

Training at a high level of intensity is one of the hallmarks of CrossFit. What does that mean? It means we pack a lot of work into a short period of time. This also makes our workouts extremely time efficient and the superior health benefits of this style of training are well established.

CrossFit is not just for high performing athletes. Anyone, no matter what their level of fitness, can participate in a CrossFit.

One of the best things about CrossFit is that it is scalable to anyone’s level of ability.  The amount of weight being used can be adjusted, the number of reps or rounds can be changed, or substitutions can be given if a particular exercise or movement is too difficult.   Any of the elements of a particular workout can be scaled or modified to make the workout appropriate for each person. All of the staff at Wildcat CrossFit have backgrounds in fitness, sports, and health sciences, and we bring that knowledge and experience to our coaching and programming.

CrossFit can be part of your rehabilitation and recovery regimen.

While CrossFit workouts can be scaled to any level of fitness and ability, it is better to err on the side of caution rather than risk re-injury. If you are recovering from an injury, please consult with your doctor, or other healthcare professional before beginning any workout routine.
